2021: A Year in Review

2021 was the year my photography business soared thanks to you!

What went well:

2021 was an amazing year for Kate Zills Photography. 75 sessions were on the books for 2021, and I got to serve so many of you through the gift of photography. Most of the sessions were family and/or newborns, but there were also a few brand shoots, weddings, and receptions thrown in there.

I credit a lot of my gained confidence and success from last year to upgrading my photography gear. I didn't realize how my previous camera was limiting my growth. Since I have a lot of indoor, natural light shoots, a camera that can handle low lighting is a must, and upgrading to a mirrorless camera was a game changer. Photogs, if you've been on the fence about going mirrorless, just do it. I have never looked back, and it completely changed my business.

Not the highlight reel:

I'm not very good at a work/life balance as an entrepreneur. Every entrepreneur knows this struggle. I could honestly spend 24/7 working on my businesses, and not get everything done. When your work (success and failure) relies solely on you, it’s hard to put it down. I have to remind myself that I started these businesses to bring joy to others and provide for my family by doing something I love. But I also started these businesses for freedom, so I still need to make time for life.

I set a strict limit for myself going into 2022 on sessions. I'm only taking on 5 full sessions per month, and that has allowed me to truly serve each client, and has allowed for more of a work/life balance.

Thank you all for an amazing 2021! I'm so looking forward to this year and have already had some amazing sessions in 2022. I have a few spots left in 2022, so make sure you reach out to claim those.

Stay Beautiful,

Kate
